Mawhera Movie screening

My class has made a video about our 2019 highlights that we entered in the Mawhera movie screening competition with lots of other schools around Greymouth.Last week we went to the Mawhera movie screening with some of the other schools and at the screening some of the movies that were made were shown but not all of them because ours was not shown.My favourite movie that was shown was the first movie and it was about a robber and two cops.The things that I think we did well in our video is that we had people being interviewed about things that happened this year.

Story Starter

For this activity I had to read the story starter for inspiration about what to write about and then write about the man that is in the picture I hope you like my story.

BEWARE OF MISS SPICK!!

W.A.L.T:Create a poster about a worlds worst teacher using emotive and persuasive language.

In my class we are reading the book the Worlds Worst Teachers.So far we have read about Miss Spick,Mr and Mrs Lovey Dovey,Mr Pent and we are currently reading Mr Dred and the chair of a thousand farts.For this activity we had to choose one of the teachers that we have read about so far and had to create an eye catching poster using persuasive language I chose Miss Spick.

Mt Fuji Facts

This activity was one of the rugby world cup activities that my teacher made for my class.For this activity I had to research Mt Fuji because the rugby world cup is being held in Japan and Mt Fuji is in Japan.

Creative writing

For this activity Mrs Clark chose a image on the tv for M1 to write about.The picture was of a shadow and a shed and it also had a story starter which was a piece of writing that we had to read and continue on to the story starter with our own writing and the writing that I did is highlighted.

Story starter!

It happened in the dead of night. The garden light
illuminated the person, casting a mysterious shadow.

As silent as a whisper in the night, the figure stealthily
crept towards the green, wooden doors. Click…
The key slipped into the metal lock, the cold mechanisms
inside responding to the familiar shape of the object
that had been slipped inside. Seeing the padlock pop
open as expected, the figure slipped the slender
bolt across into its resting position. The doors
groaned agonizingly, the figure turning to survey
the surrounding area, alarmed at the loudness of
the sound their actions had made.

The coast seemed clear. Resuming their mission,
the shadow slipped inside the room. There it was. This
was the sight and moment they had been waiting for…

The shadow moved away from the lock on the large
green wooden doors the shadow started to disappear
as the golden light of the hidden treasure chest
beamed up at the shadow.The shadow turned into
a person it was a man and he was bathing in the gold
and jewls that came out of the chest.He yelled out
“This is victory!”

Butterfly Method

In maths we have been learning the butterfly method which is a method to help you compare fractions.For this activity we had to create a DLO explaining what this method is and how to use it.

Kieran Read Profile

For the whole of this week and for the first week next term I have to do a variety of different activities revolving around the rugby world cup 2019 and this was one of the activities and for this I had to choose a all black and write a profile for that all black and I chose to do a profile on Kieran Read.

Creative writing

For this activity my class had to look at a picture of a giant coming out of the ground and write about it this is what I wrote.

I am at the park on a bright and sunny day somebody just walked over a 

big grassy lump on the ground and out roared a massive giant in rage.

Everybody started to evacuate the park accept me I walked up to the 

giant it smelt like dirty rock and moss its expression looked angry.

Pick a Path

For this activity the whole of Mamaku hub got into groups of three and I was in a group with Hannah and Arliah and the genre that we choose for our pick a path was Fantasy and we choose to recreate the story the Wizard of Oz.

What is a fraction?

For this activity I had to explain what a fraction is on a google drawing and we had to write what the main parts of a fraction is.

Creative Writing

PrEP

                        
                     PrEP 2019


For PrEP this year I am in the group Painting Maniacs and our products involve a lot of paint.Our products that we are making this year are painted glass jars for pencil/pen holders ,Painted rocks for decoration and stress clickers which are just made out of jar lids that make a clicking noise.The good things about PrEP so far was mini market last week because our group made lots of money we got 110 nuggets.The bad things about PrEP so far is that in the warehouse they have ran out of jars so we have to bring them in from home but some people in our group dont have any.

What is PrEP?  PrEP is a activity where each of the students at my school get into groups and start a fake business and make a product to sell at two markets to get ready for the real world.

Similarities&Differences

Recently my class has read the book Holes and we also watched the movie to look for differences or things that they missed out from the book and for this activity we had to write down what you would rate the book out of ten,what was your favourite(Book or Movie),what was your favourite part,differences and similarities.

Managing self goal

Lily’s Managing Self Goal.

I am currently working at Extended Abstract. To become sure that I will stay in that position I need to make sure that i'm always bringing my chrome book in and putting it into my toat tray before the bell rings and also keep replacing my stationary when it brakes to do this I will try to come to school earlier to beat the bell and be more careful with my learning objects. 

What to bring to survive in a desert

For this activity we had to write what things you would take in your backpack to survive in the desert.Also this activity was a compulsury task on chapter chat for this week.I found this activity fun because I enjoyed writing what I would personally take in my backpack.

Greymouth vs Texas

We are reading the book called holes and the book is set in Texas so we had to do a comparason of the weather in greymouth and Texas.    

Current events

For this activity we had to go on the website Kiwi kids news and we had to choose an article off of the website and my article was about countdown banning kids buying energy drinks.

RattleSnakes

For this activity we had to choose a animal out of a scorpion,yellow spotted lizard or a rattlesnake and I did mine about rattlesnakes.This activity revolved around the book holes that we are reading for chapter chat.I really enjoyed this activity as it was interesting for me.

Tawhirimatea

For this activity we had to choose a Maori god and write some facts about the god I choose Tawhirimatea the god of storms and wind.
